A newly resurfaced Boston Police report shows that Mayor Michelle Wu’s office directly intervened to have a peaceful protester arrested at a city-sponsored event in 2022 — raising fresh questions about the administration’s respect for First Amendment rights.
The incident occurred during a “Coffee Hour” event at Ronan Park on June 10, 2022, where local activist Shawn Nelson used a handheld bullhorn to protest Mayor Wu’s policies. According to the report, Nelson’s protest was nonviolent and took place in a public park during a public event hosted by the city.
It’s hard to ignore the irony of a Democratic mayor who publicly warns about “no kings” and “fascism,” yet appears to maintain a list of political adversaries and protestors for immediate arrest. That kind of contradiction raises serious questions about fairness, consistency, and whether power is being applied equally, or selectively, depending on who is speaking out.
Even when he’s standing alone, Shawn makes sure that a voice of reason is not just present but heard. He refuses to let Boston drift further into the night under failed policies and misguided leadership and remains committed to standing up for the direction and future of the city.
When Shawn ran for City Council At Large, he stood against sanctuary policies, because he believes Massachusetts and the United States should come first. Shawn did not serve in the United States Marine Corps for citizens of other countries, he served for Americans, and he brings that same commitment to this fight today.
If you click the news link below, you’ll see for yourself, they stated that "he is against sanctuary city policies" and nothing else.
Shawn regardless of Win or lose, He always manages to get back up!
